Wave Equations with Concentrated Nonlinearities
In this paper we address the problem of wave dynamics in presence of concentrated nonlinearities. Given a vector field V on an open subset of C and a discrete set Y ⊂ R with n elements, we define a nonlinear operator ∆V,Y on L (R) which coincides with the free Laplacian when restricted to regular functions vanishing at Y , and which reduces to the usual Laplacian with point interactions placed ...
متن کاملVariational Iteration Method for Conservative Oscillators with Complicated Nonlinearities
The variational iteration method is employed to solve conservative oscillator containing complicated nonlinearities. In order to expand the nonlinear terms into truncated Fourier series, an approach of undetermined coefficient is proposed. Numerical examples shows the feasibility and efficiency of the variational iteration method as well as the presented technique for Fourier series expansion. ...
متن کاملFibered nonlinearities for p(x)-Laplace equations
The purpose of this paper is to give some geometric results on the following problem: −div ( α(x)|∇u(X)|p(x)−2∇u(X) ) = f(x, u(X)) in Ω, (1.1) where f = f(x, u) ∈ L∞(Rm×R) is differentiable in u with fu ∈ L∞(R), α ∈ L∞(Rm), with inf Rm α > 0, p ∈ L∞(Rm), with p(x) ≥ 2 for any x ∈ R, and Ω is an open subset of R. Here, u = u(X), with X = (x, y) ∈ R × Rn−m. As well known, the operator in (1.1) co...
متن کاملDegenerate elliptic equations with singular nonlinearities
The behavior of the “minimal branch” is investigated for quasilinear eigenvalue problems involving the p-Laplace operator, considered in a smooth bounded domain of RN , and compactness holds below a critical dimension N #. The nonlinearity f (u) lies in a very general class and the results we present are new even for p = 2. Due to the degeneracy of p-Laplace operator, for p = 2 it is crucial to...
متن کاملDarboux-integrable equations with non-Abelian nonlinearities
We introduce a new class of nonlinear equations admitting a representation in terms of Darboux-covariant compatibility conditions. Their special cases are, in particular, (i) the “general” von Neumann equation iρ̇ = [H, f(ρ)], with [f(ρ), ρ] = 0, (ii) its generalization involving certain functions f(ρ) which are non-Abelian in the sense that [f(ρ), ρ] 6= 0, and (iii) the Nahm equations.
